From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of characters who will split off from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might seem unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing started the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the party access places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Explorers and Planners tables.
Fans can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
