'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith continues contest with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the nail-biting dying seconds of his team's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith picking up a fan's glasses amid the post-goal scrum.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a long-range effort from 25 yards, and the defender promptly slammed home the loose ball before charging toward the home end to mark the goal, with fans mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result capped an incredible turnaround given the team had found themselves down 2-0 midway through the latter period. During the delirium, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a spectator shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're people, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory booked a next round fixture at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a team Galbraith ran close at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with the London side in February. He had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in remarkable manner, with a teammate's volley from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. It seems unfair that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that distance," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before moving to right flank after the team changed formation. That meant getting to grips with City's winger, with whom he traded tops, and the player was among the Manchester squad who praised the way Orient played positively.

City's Quality

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the basics and basic skills, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It seems as if they never miss a pass and they are adept at manage and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're all right and then abruptly they will just fizz a pass through a line without you even spotting it. You have to be focused throughout of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and focus just to remain competitive."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a fans' favourite across a couple of years at Orient and has quickly replicated that in his new home. At the London club he linked up again with the coach, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in professional games on loan at a League One side from Manchester United. Then came a loan at fourth-tier the Manchester club, before he moved on from Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was probably a slightly green going into senior level. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is completely distinct. Sometimes it appears the ball is moved without much intensity. There are limited tackles or duels. Once you start playing men's games you have to adjust fast."

International Recognition

His progress reflects that maturation for both domestically and internationally, excelling for Northern Ireland, who are fighting to qualify for the World Cup next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has started the last several matches, including both legs encounters against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's ex- international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he manipulates the ball and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Early Days

This represents quite the ride for the player from the Queens Park estate in the Belfast suburb, just outside the capital, who used to see his dad, his father, also a central player, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

The player's only game for the Red Devils came in the away trip in 2019, a European competition trip to the Kazakh capital, where they featured on an synthetic surface and the arena covering was closed owing to temperatures of freezing cold. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was cold out there," he comments, chuckling. "The week before, the academy prospects worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to join the main group and get a couple of minutes at the end was amazing."

Leaving United

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged his mid-teens? "This turned out fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I understood I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm hugely grateful for the time I spent there but it became apparent where I felt I had to take a different path, join a smaller club and play men's football. Now I'm gradually progressing again."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the middle of the day at the club's training ground but Galbraith has somewhere to be at late afternoon: a learner's exam, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to Sketty, the mid-twenties player was a regular in Swansea's so-called fun bus, a minibus driven by academy staff, the drivers, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"It's myself a teammate, the Brazilian, an Ivorian player – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's nice to spend time with the guys but I'm hoping to be the subsequent individual to drive independently and driving. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

While playing for his former club, Galbraith would mix with supporters on London's Central line after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
