A person who laced treats with sedative and gave them to children at a summer program in the area has admitted sexual offenses against two boys aged nine and ten years old.

Jon Ruben was arrested after eight minors and an older person became sick at the location in mid-summer.

The 76-year-old, from that region, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.

Nevertheless, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was against a young boy.

Ruben was held in detention before a subsequent court date on 28 November.

'Sweet game'

The prosecutor, handling the case, outlined the criminal behavior to the legal proceedings.

She stated his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer camp which he operated.

Ruben conducted a "sweet game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior said, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to ingest treats "as fast as possible".

She told the court the defendant had played this game with the children "over an extended period", and children had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.

She explained the defendant had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had suspicions in recently.

Mrs Prior KC continued: "Recently" his family member had worries about the situation, justifiably.

"They chose" to have a look in the individual's items."

Mrs Prior KC explained materials including baby oil, ointment and medical needles were discovered, and his family member contacted the authorities about his suspicions.

She said the man went on to conduct the "candy game" with six boys that time - July 26th - and they were all sick the subsequent day.

"Law enforcement" had not responded by that point," she stated further.

The regulatory agency, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, had stated that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.

The prosecutor explained the children were struggling to walk due to their condition, so the family member notified the authorities a second time.

She stated Ruben then conducted the "treat game" in a room of five youngsters.
