Roughly fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.
Police report they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then discovered many other vandalized cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials report initial examinations show the fluid was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; officials are not yet informed of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they added.
City officials stated they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the public for information.
An important official said the attack left him stunned and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he stated on online, referring to the murder of nine people by a assailant targeting residents of migrant background in five years prior.
